Traditional plantations in Colombia generally cultivate around 1800
trees per hectare whilst more modern plantations are home to over 3000 trees. The coffee is shade grown on steep, mountainous slopes of the four cordillas or mountain ranges which make up the Colombian Coffee Growers Axis or locally knows as Eje Cafetero.

The climate provides a wonderful environment for coffee; cool, stable temperatures, wet humid air, and year round sunlight allowing for good growth and quality production.
